In 1988 an unprecedented draught ravaged the eastern and western parts of the nation. Farms burned and crops perished. Anguish reigned supreme on all sides. And then – enter the rainmaker. ‘I partook 3 days ‘white’ fasting before the song came to me,’ he would say later on.
It was a song that transformed the emotion of an entire country. It was a spiritual cry that brought a material miracle.

Released on the Prisoner of Conscience album in 1988, you cannot deny the good vibes Send Down the Rain brings to your soul.Coming at a time when music was the ultimate tool and vehicle of socio-cultural metamorphosis Send Down the Rain was clearly the pristine single from the Prisoner of Conscience project. Before music videos became all about glossy half naked females and glinting bling music then taught us lessons and opened our third eye. Send Down the Rain did all that and more.
